Its simple. Businesses can submit a request for legal assistance to Freelance Legal here. Our platform then matches* the role with our registered and vetted freelance lawyers.
The most suitable freelance lawyers are then invited to submit a competitive (usually fixed fee) quote for the work. You can then decide which lawyer to hire, having a 1:1 consultation if required. As a curated platform, once the project is complete, we ask you to provide a review and rating which is published on the platform.
*Currently the matching process is done manually whilst we build our matching engine and algorithms.
How do I know I can trust the lawyers who provide the quote?
Freelance Legal interviews all lawyers on the platform. As lawyers ourselves our process is stringent and we understand the necessary qualities lawyers should have to provide expert customer oriented commercial service. All the lawyers on Freelance Legal have at least 5 years post qualification experience which, when you include time training, means our lawyers have been working for at least 7 years.
Our freelance lawyers are set up in a number of ways, some offer their services via a law firm umbrella which is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, barristers chambers which is regulated by the Bar Council or via a legal consultancy company.
Freelance Legal is a curated platform where all of our lawyers are rated and reviewed by real clients for whom real work has been undertaken. Freelance Legal verifies that the reviews given are genuine and authentic.
What are the benefits for clients using the platform?

What are the benefits to legal freelancers in using the platform?
Our platform has been created by lawyers for lawyers. As freelance lawyers ourselves we were frustrated with the process of constantly finding new work – endless meetings, dead ends and empty promises. It felt as if we’d taken a big step to take control of our careers, yet still had to rely too much on gatekeeper law firms or recruiters for work.
We are working hard to ensure that liquidity on the platform is very high, meaning you’ll be able to plan your life knowing that work is available when you want it without the constant fear of being ‘under employed’. You keep much more of the money you earn through our platform then when you consult via a law firm umbrella.
You will be able to connect with top legal departments, businesses, individuals and even law firms who need one-off legal support or additional short term legal resources. You are in control, you can set your own rate for the work and build your brand with references and star ratings. The better you are, the more in demand you will be.
How much does it cost?
Freelance Legal is completely free to use for clients.
We charge the lawyers a nominal fee based on the value of the work done for clients who use our platform.
Why is Freelance Legal cheaper than using my current law firm?
Traditional law firms have huge overheads and have extremely inefficient work structures which means they charge outrageous hourly fees.
The lawyers on our platform are incentivised to provide competitive quotes in order to be chosen by you.
Freelance lawyers are entrepreneurial, dynamic and are at the top of their game. This usually means that you are able to get the services of a senior, experienced lawyer at a fraction of the cost you would pay for the same calibre lawyer working in a traditional law firm.
If I obtain a quote, do I have to use that lawyer?
No. You are free to decide whether to instruct a lawyer we have matched you with or not. Its your call. All that we ask is that if quote requests are genuine.
Are the lawyers insured?
Yes. All of the lawyers on our platform have professional indemnity insurance covering the type of work they do.
What areas of law do you cover?
We currently expanding Freelance Legal to cover:
Residential & commercial property
